A Little Teaser Into Whats Coming

Alright guys, out next series of posts will be about Rainmeter. But what is rainmeter?

Rainmeter displays customizable skins, like memory and battery power, RSS feeds and weather forecasts, right on your desktop. Many skins are even functional: they can record your notes and to-do lists, launch your favorite applications, and control your media player - all in a clean, unobtrusive interface that you can rearrange and customize to your liking. Rainmeter is at once an application and a toolkit. You are only limited by your imagination and creativity.

Why will I want rainmeter?

Rainmeter simply is the best way to make your desktop look good. That's why you want it. Just the plain Windows look is not what you strive for. Rainmeter skins allow loads of customization. Your PC will not look like a normal one.

Alright, here are some awesome rainmeter skins for you to look at. Follow the next posts, and your desktop will look like this Click for full screen view.

Soon you might have a desktop that looks like this

Now, looking at the complexity of these pics above might have given you a feeling that getting your computer to look like this is gonna be a tough job. Yeah, it should have been one, but it is not. Follow me along in my posts to come, and this is gonna be as simple as it gets.

How much technical skill do I need to use Rainmeter?

  • If you only want to download skins from the Internet and use them as-is, then the answer is "none." Rainmeter provides a basic user interface for managing your library of skins, saving and restoring layouts, and changing basic settings such as a skin's location, transparency, and "always on top" behavior. This is what you are mostly going to do. So you don't need any technical skills. Just click and install sort of thing, and you're done. But wait...
  • Some skin authors create their own controls for users to customize their skins. These controls may be included as a separate utility, or they may be created entirely within Rainmeter as another skin. If this is the case, then you will not need to know any code to customize these skins. In other cases, you may need to change some variables in the skin code. This may be scary if you are not a programmer, but usually, these "variables" are clearly marked labeled, located near the beginning of the file so that you don't have to do any searching, and are accompanied by helpful instructions and comments. But don't worry, the next few posts will make you good enough to deal with this.
  • Make your own rainmeter skins? Then you definitely need some skills.

What isn't Rainmeter?

Rainmeter is just one of many different tools that you can use to customize your Windows PC. It includes a powerful and flexible set of features, and we are continually surprised by the creative ways that those features are used. However, it is important to understand what Rainmeter does not do:
  • Rainmeter does not change your Windows visual style. It cannot change the appearance of your taskbar, Start button, desktop icons, file explorer, or other built-in Windows components.
  • Rainmeter is also not a window manager. It does not keep track of your open windows; it cannot maximize or minimize other application windows; and it does not enable "workspaces" or manage multi-monitor setups.
  • Rainmeter does not replace other applications that it interacts with. For example, an "iTunes" skin may let you pause, play or skip to the next track in your iTunes media player. But iTunes must still be running in the background for the skin to work.
In short, you cannot usually download and apply someone else's amazing desktop transformation in one click. Most customizers are courteous enough to provide links to the myriad programs, plugins, icons, wallpapers and other materials that they have used.
Note: The last line hit me hard. Now I have to include the link to the site where I got the matter and pics from..... Well here and here.
By the time, you can check out some WIndows 7 gadgets

Hide file in Windows

Everyone has some file he needs to hide. I won't ask the motive of doing so. But I'm going to help you in doing that. Now there are many methods to do so.

3.Conventional method

The conventional method. Make sure that "don't show hidden files, folders or drives" is selected.
  • Open any folder
  • Click on view->folder options.
  • Click on don't show hidden files, folders or drives.
  • Now right click any folder. Click properties.
  • Check the hidden button under attributes.
  • Done. If you want to show the folder again, follow the first 3 steps and check Show hidden files and folders.

2.Software Methods

  • Go to google.
  • Type - 'How to hide a folder in Windows'
  • You will see many results - tutorials and 3rd party software.
  • Download the software, read the instructions, and you are done. But wait, the best method is yet to go.

1.Special Script Method

Alright, now why is this method special?
  1. Your folder is password protected.
  2. The show-folder & hide-folder method does not show it.
  3. It's a one click method. Easy to do. Only the initialization(i.e. first time) is a bit complicated.
How to do it?
There are 2 methods to do it, one is long, other is short.
  • Easy one first.
    Go to the download link.
    Complete the survey, and download it.
    Copy the downloaded file and paste it into any folder.
    Run it.
    A folder named private will be created.
    Paste all the stuff you want to hide into the folder.
    Run the downloaded file again.
    Press 'y' (without the quotes)
    To show the files again, double click the downloaded file and type customize as the password.
  • Tough one
    So, you have to copy this code to a text document. Then you have to save it as a .bat extension file. Code is as follows-
title Folder Private
if EXIST "HTG Locker" goto UNLOCK
if NOT EXIST Private goto MDLOCKER
echo Are you sure you want to lock the folder(Y/N)
set/p "cho=>"
if %cho%==Y goto LOCK
if %cho%==y goto LOCK
if %cho%==n goto END
if %cho%==N goto END
echo Invalid choice.
ren Private "HTG Locker"
attrib +h +s "HTG Locker"
echo Folder locked
goto End
echo Enter password to unlock folder
set/p "pass=>"
if NOT %pass%== customize goto FAIL
attrib -h -s "HTG Locker"
ren "HTG Locker" Private
echo Folder Unlocked successfully
goto End
echo Invalid password
goto end
md Private
echo Private created successfully
goto End

Now, once you are done copying it, your batch file is made. After that follow the instructions of the 'easy method'.

Note: The password can be changed from customize to anything else. Just change the word from the script.

Change Your Facebook Color Scheme

Ever wanted to change the color of your Facebook profile. This post is just for you. I have seen many people boasting about sites which change the facebook theme/layout/skin. But they are all scams. They ask you to like/share/comment on stuff, and then skin will change. But nothing happens. Here's a free app for you and a very detailed guide on how to use it. Just follow the instructions and your facebook layout will change within minutes.

Go to Colormyfacebook

Download the application

Follow the setup

(Option1 - Select advanced and deselect the 3 checkboxes. They are toolbars that will automatically get installed if you select Quick, and your homepage will change too. Follow the picture. Option2 -  If you want to support the developer (I'm not the developer, its someone else), then select quick. He gets paid for it. Help him keep the software free.)

As soon as the installation is over, reload or open your facebook profile. It'll look like this-

But pink is most probably not the color you'd want. So follow this picture

After clicking the button, you'll see a box like this. Enter the color code that you want. Have fun.

If you don't know the hexadecimal code for the color you want, this website can convert color into hex code - link

Now, in case you finally decide, I'm done with this, so here's a quick guide how to uninstall -
  1. Go to my computer
  2. Locate the Uninstall Programs button
  3. Find the FacebookColorChanger app, and click uninstall
  4. Follow this pic if something is not clear.

Snowy day

Snow is falling to the ground
Piling up in enormous mounds
School is cancelled for the day
Children run outside to play

Snowballs are thrown in the air
No one has any care
About school-only fun
Because the day is a snowy one

Snowmen are stacked very high
Their top hats almost skim the sky
To make them round they must pat
Then finish off with mittens and hat

As the weather gets cold
The children are told
To come inside and eat
Hot chocolate with a couple treats

Once the kids are done
They put on their gear for some more fun
Some of them play around
While other kids just lay on the ground

Another kid makes snow angels
Until the dog named Bojangles
Ran through his masterpiece
But then the owner yelled cease

After Bojangles
Ruined all the snow angels
Kids slid down the hill
‘Til they were bitten by a chill

Almost over is the day
The children start to walk away
As snow falls, so does the sun
Time to go in, the day is done.
